Let us explore an interesting idea of the power of hate mixed with tainted values that developed the capacity to warp the full functioning of a justice system in order to enrich and promote ethnocentric connected clan members. It is a hypothetical thought experiment on creating the highest functioning systems possible by exploring what a default might look like if mixed with corruption, hate and lack of backstops. The exploration of possibilities helps us avoid similar situations where a victim(s) could be stripped of their basic civil rights, denial of harm caused to them and the subsequent dehumanization that might come from seeing them unworthy of basic human consideration or justice.
This hypothetical learning purposes example so don't get too excited!✌️ Hold the horses as there is a positive outcome where justice is served and a higher moral conscious emerges 🐎 (The only way to achieve higher moral conscious is learning and reflection. We first must believe that our social contracts should apply to all the same, then we must find resonation with our personal values and societal values. When you really look at people how much integrity do most people have? Think of what real integrity means.). In this example there were clear power differentiators between in-group and out-group members. Some were professionally coached on how to target others. Further, differences in things like race, religion, and even political perspective led to easy rumor spreading that prepared the way for dehumanization through corrupted social connections (good old boy networks that continuously spread dangerous false rumors about people they are targeting.).
I thought of some of the worst actions possible if a system completely defaulted and failed to regain its strength and purpose. The biggest concern is erosion from the inside if it sees people with different statuses with different inherent value and rights. In this example, whistleblowers were retaliated against publically even though they were truthful and factual, children harmed intentionally, elderly abused/manipulated for money, and no recourse for those dehumanized (They view them like animals with no rights. Segregationists hand.). Almost as though they are not seen as citizens where they grew up, served, and worshiped (..perceived religion seems to be a bigger factor.). Being a good citizen means should not be tainted by race, religion or disbelief in middle of road politics. It highlights the deeper division that could be just under the surface and the herd mentality that puts the whole at risk (It is not specific to any person or party.)
We see and incident where certain behaviors that were directly against our social contracts are becoming normalized and freedom of speech and freedom of religion undermined to ensure there is one narrative and outcome. In this example, people have complained that certain clan members are immune from responsibility and have preferential treatment when compared to others due to these associations. A speeding train toward a cliff with no off ramps and no alternative perspecteives. Increasingly misaligned to our social contracts and little movement from the inside to enhance the system. The things we once believed and sacraficed for generationally thrown haphazardly into wind because they have become inconvenient financially, legally, and socially (...the danger of complacency).
In this worst case thought experiment hate is the victor, justice is the looser, and the pendulum swings wildly. There are indications that that perpetrators are above the law (first class citizens) and those beneath the law (dehumanized second class) with few rights or recourse. While the example will have a positive outcome it is not because the corrupted officials (a small vocal minority that influence others) wanted to uphold the essential laws but because there were no options without appearing to be promoters of a divided society and protectors of criminal behaviors. The group can do to whoever they want whenever they want to and that has become normalized (never grew up from highschool the bullies and the bigots that are rewarded and encouraged.).
This example is a thought a experiment to help learn about dehumanization and its risks to our future well being. People who promote and protect the violations of our social contracts should not be in leadership positions because they are making decisions on lower divisive values. Supporting the universal application of social contracts is one of the most important things we can do. If we don't do that we have to wonder what is next and an example like this shows the direction we are heading if we do not change our course. Our society rests on a dream and a belief that those who keep the vision bright for everyone are true patriots (versus nationalists who create intentional disparity and break our contracts as we have seen here. Both coexist in the same entities but they are radically different. One seeks to live by the principles/values/soul of a nation while nationalism is much more comingled with extremism and bigotry. They both may have an impact on our environment.).
If you read the study below you will find that there seems to be a connection between human rights violations and denial of those violations thereby leading to intentional dehumanization (Other studies have shown that dehumanization leads to serious atrocities when the opportunity presents itself). I'm a supporter of creating the highest and strongest functioning institutions and systems we can. This is why freedom of speech is so important so as to ensure we are not limiting the perspectives that lead to group think and eventual moral bankruptcy (i.e. collective dehumanization.) We are all in this ship together and ensuring we maximize the value of our resources is part of nation building (even if unpopular or we put pressure on people to give up higher order values).
Let us pretend this default was true and there were different people with different societal value and justice rights. How might the first chief justice view such disparity within the following quote. "Justice is indiscriminately due to all, without regard to numbers, rank or wealth". You can read more about John Jay the first chief justice (1789-95).
Who are more patriotic? Those who try maximize positive social outcomes and support a high functioning justice system or those who seek to separate us and undermine our systems from the inside in misalignment to our social contracts. Once you answer that you can think of which direction we can head as a people. If you do not know you might want to consider thinking of its importance.
Back to basics: human rights violations and dehumanization
