Investment Research Using US SEC Resource (Cluster Research)

The process of investing is something that is of interest as it is the lubrication that keeps the rest of the system humming along. Understanding investing and how investors think is helpful for designing policies that attract investors/businesses to a city/town.

I am hoping to build a model that attracts investment interest to places like Delta County/Escanaba which is becoming an emerging hot spot. Significant investment projects have started over the past few years that includes tourism, industry, and beautification. Likewise, there have been changes in perspective and many people are working together to accomplish shared goals. Local institutions are becoming more effective and efficient and budgets are for the most part in the green. The foundations are present.

My stock development strategy includes finding a balanced hedge in stocks so there is resilience and adaptability to market conditions.  That teaches me how different industries function under real time factors. Not to mention that research funds are limited and generating an income source provides freedom of thought and supports self research. There were times when it was up to 90% return and now somewhere around 36% which is still pretty good. Lately my crypto and bit mining AI software type stocks got hit pretty hard.

In general I look for trends in the market, emerging fields, and solid development.  Likewise I have preferences for American businesses.

I thought this was an interesting resources because one can research the company and it's SEC findings. Information is king in decision making. Resources help fill gaps in knowledge.

Art and Its Ability to Influence (Art)

 Art is a complex symbolic, emotional and data infused display of fundamental truths. It allows us to discuss topics that are difficult to process for many members of society, things people don't want to acknowledge or topics that are looked upon with retributive disdain. This is why freedom of speech in literature and art is fundamental to solving societal problems. It shares perspectives that must be addressed to resolve effectively and helps us stay focused on our societal purpose to thrive socially and economically.

This painting is of hate unchallenged and unchecked with free reign to do what it wants where it wants to do it-unrestricted. It is like a subconscious storm that consumes what it touches and rages its projections onto all that is good as symbolized in the turbulent water, red, and dissipating clear sky's in front of it. The cloud is like a heart showing how deep some believe in promoting hate because of their core beliefs. After the storm of hate blows through like a hurricane there is awareness of its destructive capacity and ultimately a new order forms off the aftermath from new knowledge and awareness.

 Sometimes the truth is glaringly clear that when certain behaviors cause carnage we are underprepared and lack commitment between word, belief, and action. This ties to a theoretical hypothetical thought experiment that explores when systems intentionally do not correct, reward criminal behaviors of in group members and gross negligence has harmed multiple members of the community with no recourse. Lack of moral conscious is apparent. The whole has suffered even if they don't have the experience to understand reverberation of failure to adapt and improve.

After the storm, a newer truth and order arises and creates a positive outcome that can come from even the darkest of defaults (hypothetically). The thought experiment should be taken with a grain of salt but ultimately the knowledge will strengthen the whole through the learning the necessity of greater alignment between oaths, law, purpose and action. Some will never understand the need to always stay faithful to higher principles. Most do and that is a good thing. A different kind of ❤️.  Time will answer all questions.

Not all things can be calculated in dollars and cents because we don't have the scientific tools to evaluate properly.  We sometimes strip the humanity from quantitative thought processes limited by the tools of the time.

Watching local governance helps us understand how systems function and work in a democratic society where ultimately the people have power. In this case, the partisanship is not present, no lobbyist come to this little area, and people know each other well. This is the strength of having government function at local levels to make important decisions. While there was some commotion in the past what I like about the present is that most people seem very focused on solving problems and working together. I hope they can keep it up because the fruits of their labor are likely to soon follow. Other places have their own problems but here the intimate nature of the participants helps in creating a cohesive team. The biggest problems and greatest strengths of the U.S. political system

Did you have some thoughts on their ability to disagree but then stay focused on the tasks? How might the intimate nature of politics without all the special interests and financial influencers keep governance more pure? Is it possible that part-time politicians have more focus on good governance? Is local governance more responsive to people?

I am thinking about these quotes and whether there was some knowledge associated with local governance making decisions for local people because they know what they need. So far I'm impressed, not that my impressed or not impressed should matter, but that people seem very interested in strengthening the area and one can see that interest come out in the dialogue.

Veterans Resources for Starting a Business (Veterans Affairs)

From battlefield to boardroom our vets already come with the basic foundations needed to launch successful businesses. They can endure the long hours, manage the stress, live on a shoestring budget if necessary, can see opportunities to thrive when they present themselves or make new ones if they only find lemons. 

I came across the following resources that are free to vets. If you want to start a business this may be stop #1. Create a solid business plan and follow the steps to launch. Research the market to find opportunities, define the problem, construct a solution that can sell, do your paperwork and let the world know.

Delta County would benefit from fostering Veteran business and start ups to enhance the value of its current veteran resources to encourage further economic growth. Maybe there are some start-up grants out there that would provide seed money. Follow that up with low interest loans to build capacity once a viable sellable product has been launched. Particular interest in export and tourism are two good places to start. Downtown Escanaba has some great buildings to consider.

Majority of College Students Feel Moderate to High Financial Stress (College Life)

College is stressful and let me say that there is a  significant commitment of time and energy. My best suggestion to college students is if you are going to school you should jump two feet in if you can and really spend your time doing well. Even the most diligent students will sometimes have struggles.

(I was really good at living cheap. No one paid for anything so I was on my own. The days of ketchup-based soup. Delish with tabasco sauce! I used to debate between coffee and gas money. 1 gallon of gas and 1 cup of coffee and I was good.)

According to the study below somewhere around 75% of students felt they had moderate to high levels of stress over the past 12 months. To me this means that college still requires a level of sacrifice and finding ways to help high performing students that need financial assistance to the graduation line has its benefits

The other day I received as an Alumni a request form CMich to donate to students (If your looking for big bucks you have definately come to the wrong place! 🙅). I did promise to put something on my site to support their cause. Giving Fund for CMICH students.  (👈👈👈👈👈 Its right there! I kept my promise! I try and keep my promises through thick or thin because it is an integrity issue.)

What this does make me think about colleges (especially in demand fields that need skilled graduates) to have a fund that companies can voluntarily donate tax free for scholarships, room & board, books, etc. for online and ground. Many companies do pay for college but sometimes they may be will into donate their big bucks back (....also I know a fire department that could use some of that money if your not into donating to college students. Message to right. 🙆).

Does Exercising Outdoors Make You Smarter and Fitter? (Fitness and Training)

Wouldn't it be nice if you feel somewhat dim witted and jiggly today you could go for a quick hike (For my UP friends) or beach volleyball game (for my San Diego friends) and wallah you are smarter and fitter! Magic! Better than coffee. ☕ 

Ok it may not lead to an immediate transformation of body and spirit, but an outdoor fitness program should be part of your plan. You might need to think about learning how to do exercise in the outdoors.

This study indicates that there is a cognitive boost when exercising outdoors. If so, one might utilize their outdoor fitness time to contemplate a problem or brainstorm on a new idea.

Other research has indicated that outdoor activities improve mood. It could be possible that our biological, and the psychology that comes from our biology, are rooted from their beginning of the species to nature (It makes sense that environment fostered our species and similar other species like the neanderthal.)

We may not know it on one level, but our biology reacts to environmental factors on a neurobiological level. This is where finite cell research might determine whether there is some type of slight change in cell function based on certain environments (theoretically).

One might wonder if improving our natural environment could have an impact not only on our life quality but also our performance?

Anyway, I have fitness trainer license, yoga license and more if you need some help taking off a few pound. You can do some of the training outdoors. We can also consider some basic nutrition stuff and put together a fitness plan catered to your body type, needs and schedule. Send a message to the right.

Detroit Police Department Recruitment Strong (Public Service Research)

To watch a department get a second wind and come back strong is a great thing. It can help build strong communities, foster higher trust and create an environment where economic activity can thrive (There is research support for this and we can discuss in some economic postings.). Detroit police department is leading the pack in recruitment and they have something to teach others.

When recruitment is strong and people are interested in serving then we should inquire as to why. This is where a doctoral student or commissioned study would be money well spent. It would not be particularly hard or costly to design a survey and poll those departments doing well in recruitment and take those results and share them as best practices with other departments. I have other things going on but this would likely be a study with public interest (A freshly minted doctor/researcher could support their long term career growth with a study like this that has practical utility and can impact communities and lives. I don't care about fame but do feel I have obligations to society to make the world just a little better. A study like this for someone would have societal benefit.)
