Listening to Music at HOL-43,000 Thousand Years

Music soothes the soul and brings people together. Tonight, I went down to the House of Ludington (HOL) to listen to the House Band. The place was packed, and it was nearly impossible to find a seat. Maybe the cold weather sweeping through Escanaba—the chilly 50s—helped draw people inside.

The band and its members do a lot for the community, and their music has become a Wednesday night favorite. Beyond the songs, people come not only to listen but also to connect with one another.

It’s amazing to think that music has been around for more than 43,000 years. Like poetry and writing, music has the power to shape opinions, shift perspectives, and tell the stories of life itself.

I recently came across an article on the history of music that I found both informative and thought-provoking—it reminded me just how deeply music is woven into human experience.
