You may also come to realize that not everyone does nor do they have the best interest of their nation or communities in mind when they make choices on how to act, treat, and relate to others who they see as different (majority of society). Where they create disparities in the law or institutions it can limit the overall health by not allowing a full market contribution through maximization of the nation's best and brightest. First and second class citizens can be formed where systems can't correct wrongdoing to protect the public.
We do have some challenges that we face and sometimes hypothetical example thought experiments help us see areas where improvement could occur and where greater alignment between word, values, and action are possible. Other times these examples fall flat and it can be difficult to break through the calloused hearts that that conjure the dark magic of short-sighted decision making. The hope is to widen the lense of judges, administrators, and officials to the greater needs of the nation and support the rights of victims and citizens. That requires moving their focus away from the appeal to politics, religious distortion and racial bias.
The dangers of doing the wrong thing too frequently include eventual declining institutional trust, poor outcomes, sociological cultural shifts and reduced human capital (quiet quitting, unemployment, etc.) which eventually impacts economic growth. People learn to tust or not trust based on experience and social narrative. Thus when people complain it is not because they are always whinners but because they are not seen, or don't see themselves, as full participants in society and their social contracts minimized. Its not only about race and religion but how some of these local systems see others as less than human and ensured that no reforms occured and perpetrators were rewarded in a statement of core values that are not in alignment with our nation's needs or values. )
The total conceptually blended perception is based in part on the frequencies of success or failure as people experience them. Even when the vast majority strive for a higher legal and moral order there are times where failure will occur. People are human and fallable and make poor judgements on false or misleading perceptions and information. Earnestly correcting mistakes is different when compared to embracing Machiavellianism. Striving for the highest values has long term economic impact as economic exchange is based in fundamentals of trust.(Silent Quitting and Discriminations Impact on Economy)
Statistically we should expect even with the best intent such failures might occur no matter the due diligence. There are mistakes and there are people who protect criminal behaviors. When it becomes a concern is when it is focused on protected classes and there are lack of checks n balances to such behaviors. Once someone makes a extremist clan based decision in violation of all that is sacred in society, there are no backstops; so rare. It wouldn't be a mistake or failure that can be worked on but something much more destructive that could be impacting a lot of people thereby undermining our democracy.
The hypothetical example for a thought experiment that fosters understanding and learning showed the worst case scenario. The real ugly stuff, grotesque callousness, and antithetical to all of our understandings of good moral conscious (<<<<<That word again....) one could thinking of, wrapped into an example of lies, rumors, hate, disrespect for veterans, sexual assaults on women, taking advantage of the sick and dying, putting kids in harms way, setting people up, aggression, corruption, cultic social networks, extremism, and all the things you wouldn't want in a nation (Well....some might want but they don't see how their advancement is now tied with the advancement of others. Think about it for a second.). All ok as long as its done by in-group members. Report a crime and retaliation forthcoming. Many people report and multiple recorded incidents of retaliation by officials who sore oaths and live off of our taxpayer money.
I think you probably get the point of its dark pits and what it reflects on those who engage in such behaviors. A poor outcome is not only a reflection on those who engaged but also the risks of normalization and acceptance of such behaviors as useful tools to help one's clan, race, religion, or politics. (Honor and civilized behaviors should be seen as good traits. As a people we should be neutral on these issues while focusing on what is important.). Some judges may have supported major violations of human/civil rights and doubled down to ensure perpetrators are rewarded. Many have values we can be proud of and some do not. Anyways........
The goal of such examples is to encourage people to care about our values, what makes us essentially who we are, how we plan on tackling future challenges our nation faces. We can do that together and we can overcome those problems by allowing the best and brightest from any background to come forward to contribute (barriers of hate impact us all). A single people with a single vision. A nation with a bright and strong future that is leaping forward from solid footing. That will be supported by removing from positions of authority those who made choices to harm the public and allow others to do the same.
One might feel like a second class citizen when subjectivity is used to circumvent the sacred and outcomes seem misaligned to the greater good. It just happens because some want it to happen and are given immunities to do how and what they wish when they want to do it. No sugar coating corruption on this level. True Americans are defined by their beliefs and not their social networks. How the true and untrue dynamic is going to play out remains to be seen from a sociological perspective. We can conclude that since the average citizen believes in these values the parasitic officials protecting hate and violence should be removed so as to minimize future harm; assuming our nation's future still matters.
Where most will do the right thing some won't and that is where we should think about focusing our improvement so as to ensure person, process, and outcome are in alignment with our social contracts and our essential values. As we sort of ponder tale of Constitutional tailtuckers we should keep in mind that we are exploring ideas so there are often many different explanations. Keep reaching for the improving the nation and universal democracy. We owe it to our grandchildren to have better leaders and judges.
In this learning example there was a long stemming history of mistreatment of people in the public and those who caused the issue were rewarded and in many ways encouraged. Thus we had two failures one of which was by history and lack of check-n-balances and the other was a failure to see why its not ok to manipulate the sick or elderly, set people up, and put people in harm's way. The system failed to correct and protect until later in the game. Even then begrudgingly instead of embracing a higher moral order. Deep breaks and misuse of tax resources for in-clan and advantages of corrupted officials became noticeable (We want systems to be run 100% and serve the needs of people 110%.)
What they did eventually do well was the town came around around others came forward with mistreatment publically forcing the system to start to change. They didn't want to and doubled down on behaviors designed to violate our most basic values and laws. Unwillingly, begrudgedling, after trying to retailiate, it eventually started to change. That willingness to stand for a higher moral order will protect a lot of people going forward. Without that change more people will be hurt and good officials will be subjected to the influences of the aggressive corrupted/extremist officials. Thus their failure to have values impacts everyone else and they don't seem to really care one way or another.
An appology is warranted to the victims of the future and of the past that this example has failed to make a complete reform and only a small road bump to require those who engage in criminal activity and those who free pass them to think before acting (Maybe they will and maybe they won't but their track record is spotty.). It did its duty but may not be enough to ensure greater fairness and alignment to our national values or protect the rights of vulnerable populations. It did put forward a thought into the wider system that may help more people in the future that despite the best attempts, they have to morally navigate and that will require them to pause for just a second. Just enough for moral conscious to set in (The word again!). Many will ignore it. The impact of thoughtfulness is limited if we do not support it with constant reminders of who the ultimate stakeholders are.
Despite some failures and system defaults I will say one thing. There are a lot of good people who care about each other and that should be part of how we define patriotism going forward. We need to encourage a sense of community and openness to difference because those are what helps us coordinate as a society and learn new things so we may master our environment as a people. Differences should not be divisions if we all are looking at the same northern star and rowing in the same direction. Philosophy is philosophy. Its meant to get you to think about the next layer of knowledge. Are you thinking now? Have you changed your mind about anything or come to a new conclusion? What do we do now that we know that there are those who protect and reward criminal behavior and no other protections in the system? To whom did you swear your oaths and should the clan, bigots, and criminals be first to benefit from the people's hard work? What do we do when there are no corrections?
(Keep in mind that people come to the same conclusions over and over when they do not have cognitive flexibility because they are not making new neural connections that allow them to incorporate new information. Thus, they kept anchoring back to the idea that the 1st class citizen looks a certain way, worships in a certain way, and for the most part lives the same type of lives they do and engage in the same political values. Generally, as people learn the logic of other conclusions and outcomes through exposure they also begin to learn and change. There is laziness of simplification that comes with hate and that is why clans, cults, and extremist groups reinforce the skipping over facts and play upon people's emotions so they continue to use the same mental pathways. Distorted officials relish in technicalities and skip over the very purpose os such laws and systems. They are ultimately pathological in thought.). If they haven't changed to stand by the values we the people believe then why are they maintained in their roles with taxpayer money? (i.e. lack of checks and balances).
Higher order thinking is a movement from simple concepts to more abstract concepts. At times we can begin to understand the interconnectivity of things and how they relate to factors. Thus higher order thinking allows one to define and use information to create new knowledge (i.e. remember to create requires many new connections. Gifted people have been said to have increased neural activity and more connections that allow for things like empathy and higher order thinking. Brain Project and Neural Dendrites 👆). Blooms Taxonomy. One might make the argument that higher order capacity that leads to higher order thinking can also lead to higher order consciousness. Higher Order Consciousness and The Neural Code
What do you believe is fair and just after a default? Who should local systems be working for? Do they have obligations to protect the public in alignment with our national values and social contracts? Social Contracts and Discourses. How do we protect victims and our values in the future from those who buy into hate and its outcomes? Should we give up on our nation because there are those who believe some are not worthy of the rights we and our grandparents fought for? Do they have shame?
The best way to support democracy when you are discounted, mistreated and had all your rights violated is to continue to teach the next generation about honor, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the Constitution and human/civil rights. It is a duty to protect our democracy by reaching for national unity around the principles and people who actually make this country free and great. Patriotism isn't anchored to race, religion or politics no matter what some say but to the human truth liberty affords. Some vehemently disagree and will misuse authority to silence pro ethics support and philosophy. We are nothing more or less than a belief in our central values. We are the patriots of good will, human dignity, human Suffrage and freedom. We can do that in peaceful encouragement. Some of us are second class citizens with few rights and you can see that in the victims holding the bill for the perpetrator's actions.
"The time to guard against corruption and tyranny, is before they shall have gotten hold of us. It is better to keep the wolf out of the fold, than to trust to drawing his teeth and talons after he shall have entered." Thomas Jefferson*This is a hypothetical example thought experiment to explore the concepts of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the Constitution and human/civil rights. Take with a grain of salt because its all about leaning.
