The "right kind" of talent in a world that is demanding higher intellectual capital can be the difference between short- and long-term success. If you attract the right employees to the right positions, they will naturally be able to overcome workplace challenges and innovate their environment.
A few ideas on how to attract top talent:
-Create a profile of the skills, knowledge and abilities (might add attributes) of the desired employee.
-The profile should be based in the strategic initiatives and needs of the organization.
-Fewer applications but the right kind. Less is often more.
-Industry experience in similar type companies.
-Consider if you need adaptable broad or specialized skills.
-Consider looking for lifelong learners. People who engage in training, education or self-improvement enhancing pursuits.
-The personality and adaptability of employees could indicate long-term retainability.
-Social clubs, community volunteering, and other pro-social behaviors that indicate personal responsibility over the environment.
-If objective benchmarks are the same go with your gut.
