Strategy and stratagizing has a lot to do with business success. Strategy often starts with understanding what the objective is and if you don't know what that objective is you will need to do some preliminary research to define the problem (The more you study it, the more finite the problem.).
Leading edge businesses have all types of hurdles to overcome and that would prompt them to search for solutions and when they find something that might work they investigate it. Most will rely on outside researchers and scientists but some may create their own research (Learning theory is one thing but applying it is another. Helping shift out of the hallways of higher edu and into the practical hands takes some knowledge and a little creative art.).
It is important before making large decisions for yourself or for your business to think about what you don't know and make sure you understand your blindspots. The more important the decision, the more important it is to research all the options and solutions.
The wisest decision makers don't have all the answers but they are open to understanding the many different inputs (Be wary of those who have all the answers but don't have the detailed facts and/or a clear line of logic that can compare favorably to all the other lines of logic available.). Do your homework and then go forward with confidence!
