Reviewing stock strategies I read through the study Investment Strategy Optimization Using Technical Analysis and Predictive Modeling in Emerging Markets. It discusses that the Exponetial Moving Average (EMA) as more effective than most other methods. If you don't know what EMA is you can read more about that HERE. The terminology can be a beast unless your in that field or have a lot of experience. However, if you keep reading you will begin to understand the leading theories.

The study seemed to highlight that in many cases a certain strategy can improve outcomes. Likewise, thinking and understanding strategy as an adjustable method/algorithm can help strategic measured changes. Currently my portfolio has aboutt a 20% return based on some of the strategies I'm exploring. There are some stocks that went down and I have a high performer or two that pull it all up. Thus, it is not as evenly spread and stable as I would like to see. Seems hedged.
Two reasons why I'm looking at stock strategies....
First, because I'm thinking about economic clusters the goal is to recreate a type of emerging market with high growth rate and innovation. Thus, understanding how stocks and investment works from an investors stand point helps in drawing such investors to the area. In my case I'm thinking of Delta County Michigan with its strong infrastructure, Class A local workforce, trades college, recreation, lifestyle, port, airport, data infrastructure, rail, and highways. Current anchor industries include paper products but has some industries that are likely to have stronger demand as well as a few potential new anchor industries under discussion (Delta County MI with cities of Escanaba and Gladstone.)
Second, I'm more or less building my portfolio more because I would like to travel and retire someday and I believe it is possible to run stocks like a business. Instead of a physical business it is a like a virtual one. That doesn't mean I wouldn't get into other things such as mulling some land investments. However, overall it is beneficial to put forward a good strategy that includes stocks as well as physical assets. Happy stock hunting!
